Items needed:
3.5 mm (E) steel crochet hook
Worsted weight yarn (shown is Lily Sugar ‘n’ Cream Confectionery Colors in Caramel, Lily Sugar ‘n’ Cream Solids in Blue, Pink and Warm Brown)
Small bits of black yarn or embroidery floss
6 mm black eyes
Stuffing
Tapestry needle
Stitch marker to keep track of rows (safety pins or bobby pins work great!)
Stitch Definitions:
Sc – single crochet
Inc – Increase
Dec – Decrease
Ch – Chain
*This pattern is worked in a continuous round unless otherwise noted. Make all limbs and ears prior to the head and body so that they can be attached as you work.
Leg (make 2)
Round 1: With brown yarn, ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook
Round 2: Inc in each (12)
Round 3: Sc around in outer loop only
Round 4-7: Sc around
Bind off leaving a tail for sewing
Arm (make 2)
Round 1: With brown yarn, ch 2, sc 6 into second ch from hook
Round 2: Inc in each (12)
Round 3: Dec in each (6)
Round 4-6: Sc around
Bind off leaving a tail for sewing
Ears (worked in straight rows)
Row 1: With brown yarn, ch 2
Row 2: Sc 3 into second ch from hook, ch 1 and turn (3)
Row 3: Inc in first sc, sc 1, inc in last sc, ch 1 and turn (5)
Row 4: Sc across, bind off leaving a tail for sewing (5)
Tail:
Chain 6
Staring at second chain from hook, make 2 sc in each ch space (12 total) this should give you a nice little curly tail. If you would like the curl to be tighter, make 3 sc in some or all of the ch spaces.
Head
Round 1: With pink yarn, ch2, sc 4 second from hook
Round 2: Inc in each (8)
Round 3: With brown yarn, sc around on outside loop only (8)
Round 4: *Sc 1, inc* 4 times (12)
Round 5: *Sc 1, inc* 6 times (18)
Round 6: *Sc 2, inc* 6 times (24)
Round 7: Sc 10, inc 4, sc 10 (28) -these four increases will be where you place the eyes-
Round 8-11: Sc around (28)
-Now would be a good time to attach ears and eyes and embroider the nose-
Round 12: *Sc 5, dec* 4 times (24)
Round 13: *Sc 2, dec* 6 times (18)
-Stuff-
Round 14: *Sc 1, dec* 6 times (12)
Round 15: Dec 6, slip stitch into next, bind off
Body
With brown yarn, ch 12 and slip stitch into first to form a ring
Round 1: Sc around (12)
Round 2: *Sc 1, inc* 6 times (18)
Round 3: *Sc 2, inc* 6 times (24)
Round 4: Sc around (24)
Round 5: *Sc 3, inc* 6 times (30)
Round 6-7: Sc around (30)
Round 8: *Sc 3, dec* 6 times (24)
Round 9: Sc around (24)
-Attach head, tail and arms then stuff firmly
Round 10: *Sc 2, dec* 6 times (18)
Round 12: *Sc 1, dec* 6 times (12)
Round 13: Dec 6, slip stitch into next, bind off leaving a tail for sewing
Sweater (worked in straight rows)
The neck: With blue yarn, ch 5, in second chain from hook, *sc across on outside loop only, ch 1 and turn*
Repeat from * to * until you have 30 rows
Row 1: Sc 30 evenly across the side of the neckpiece, ch 1 and turn
Row 2: Sc 4, ch 6, sc 9, ch 6, sc 5
Row 3: Sc across, making a sc in each ch space (these will be the armholes), ch 1 and turn
Row 4-10 (or desired length): Sc across, ch 1 and turn
Sleeves: Pick up 12 stitches evenly around arm holes and sc 3 rows, repeat on other arm. Bind off and weave in ends.
To close up the back, you can do one of two things:
1: Simply stitch the two edges together (this might make it harder to get on and off of the pig)
2: Attach a few bits of yarn 1-2 inches long on either side of the sweater enabling you tie the sweater together
Pancake
Round 1: Using brown, ch 2, sc 6 into second from hook
Round 2: Inc. in each (12)
Round 3: *Sc 1, inc* 6 times (18)
Round 4: *Sc 2, inc* 6 times (24)
Round 5: *Sc 3, inc* 6 times (30)
Round 6: *Sc 4, inc* 6 times (36)
Round 7: *Sc 5, inc* 6 times (42)
Round 8: *Sc 6, inc* 6 times (48)
Slip stitch into next, bind off and weave in ends
Butter
With yellow yarn, ch 4, sc in second from chain and across, ch 1 and turn (4)
*Sc across, ch 1 and turn* repeat until you have a nice little square
Syrup
With darker brown, chain until you’ve reached your desired length (I did 50)
Assemble: Either glue or sew the butter and syrup onto the pancake, if you use glue though, make sure it’s kid-friendly!
