Granted, I haven't tried as many times as you have, but I got around one and a half times and dropped every stitch on Needle 2. I wanted to cry, as it took me an hour to cast on and divide those stitches onto 3 dpns! I'm looking into circular needles and the magik loop for my next attempt. I feel your pain.
